Assistance Dog
An umbrella term for a guide, hearing, or service dog specifically trained to perform tasks that mitigate the effects of a person's disability.
Service Dog
Works for a person with a disability other than blindness or deafness — for example mobility, autism, seizure response, or psychiatric support — performing trained tasks on cue.
Guide Dog
Guides a person who is blind or visually impaired, navigating obstacles and supporting safe, independent travel.
Hearing Dog
Alerts a person who is deaf or hard of hearing to specific sounds, then leads them to the source.
